When it comes to family portraits, I typically do these after the ceremony during cocktail hour. Family portraits are very important as this is the one day that everyone is together, why not take advantage of that! During the planning phase, we create a list together of necessary family portraits and account for about 4 minutes per grouping. I ask that you let everyone who will be involved in the family portrait session know where to be and when so we can quickly move through the list of family groupings. I also ask that you allocate one person to me who knows everyone taking part in the family session so they can be easily identified. If the two families don’t know each other very well, I’ll ask to have one person from each side.
